Wendy Yawching
First female jet captain of Trinidad & Tobago

She has flown planes, trekked mountains, danced the tango, rebuilt her life twice, and still asks what's next.

Author. Master Feng Shui consultant. Keynote speaker on courage, resilience and change. A woman who broke a boundary at thirty and has been breaking them ever since.

Whichever door brought you here, welcome. Choose where you'd like to begin.

Who she is

One woman. Several skies. The same courage carried into each.

Wendy Yawching

At ten years old, Wendy Yawching lay on the grass in Trinidad and watched a jet draw two white lines across the sky. She wanted, more than anything, to make those lines herself. Every adult she trusted told her the same four words. Girls don't do that.

She believed them for sixteen years. Then she stopped.

She became the first female captain of Trinidad & Tobago in 1999, and its first female jet captain in 2004. Since then she has run an adventure travel company for a decade, hiked the trail to Everest Base Camp, explored parts of Antarctica, rebuilt her life after losing her husband and her father within three weeks of each other, become a master Feng Shui consultant, learned the tango in Argentina before trekking Patagonia at seventy, and dived into the study of artificial intelligence at a stage of life when most people have stopped learning anything new.

She also serves as Environmental Director on the board of Tobago's Yahweh Foundation, where she created an environmental programme for secondary school students. Getting young people out into the forest, and letting them see what they are standing in, is the same work as everything else she does. It just wears different clothes.

She does not slow down. She expands.

Whatever door you came through to find her, this page is where you get to see the whole flight path.

See her in a room

Meet Capt Wendy.

Where would you like to go?

Three ways in. One woman behind all of them.

Come for the book, the workshop, or the keynote... you will find the same person, telling the same essential truth in three different rooms.

Why she does any of this

To shift inner landscapes. One step, one spark, at a time.

Wendy knows her circumstances were not the hardest ones people have faced. But they were real: real cultural resistance, real financial pressure, real fear, and a real choice, made over and over again, to keep going. She is not interested in fixing anyone's situation from a stage or a page. She is interested in reaching something deep within the core of her audience, and helping them rediscover their own capacity to dream, to hope, to deal with change and with challenges, and to find the courage to walk forward.

The pilot story is the hook. The book, the talks, and the Feng Shui work are three different rooms for the same conversation: What would you do, if you finally believed you could?

Live your own life. No one else can live it for you. Yes, you Can. It's never too late to learn, to grow, to change your path. Reach for the stars. Even if you fall, you might just land on the moon. Love. BIG. Dare to Dream. BIG. And… Have the Courage to Fly.

A life measured a few ways

The numbers behind the story.

16years between hearing “girls don't do that” and her first flying lesson
Everymajor mountain range in the world, trekked — Everest Base Camp among them
26years dancing, and competing on the Ballroom floor since 2015
70the age at which she learned the tango in Argentina, trekked Patagonia and explored Antarctica
Her story is extraordinary, but it is not simply the story of becoming Trinidad and Tobago's first female jet captain. It is the story of a woman who has continued to challenge the limits placed on her, reinvent herself, and move forward through the different seasons of her life.
